Follow these steps to assign a team member to a client:
1. If your team member is not part of your firm’s Melio account yet

2. For an existing member of your team

If your team member is not part of your firm’s Melio account yet:

First, invite them to join by navigating to the “Team” tab and clicking the “+ New member” button located on the top right corner of the screen.

You’ll be able to assign the new team member directly from the invite form by clicking on the “Continue to assign clients” button. You can also choose to skip it for now by clicking on the “invite only” button.

Now choose the clients you want your team member to have access to:

Next, choose which role you want to assign them with the client by choosing from the drop-down menu. You can also set an approval requirement for your team member for payments above a certain amount.

Note that for the team member to be added and have access to their account, they have to open the invitation email they receive, accept the invitation, and complete the registration process.

If they do not complete the process, their status on the Team dashboard will show as “pending” and you'll not be able to assign them clients. If they don’t complete the process within 7 days, the invitation will expire and you’ll need to invite them again.

For an existing member of your team:

From the Team dashboard, click on the “...” button and select “manage clients”.

A list of the firm’s clients will be shown. Select the clients you want to assign to the team member and the role you want to assign them for the client by choosing from the drop-down menu.

You can also set an approval requirement for your team member for payments above a certain amount.

Is there an easy way to assign team members when adding a new client?

Yes. When adding a new client to your firm, you’ll be asked if you wish to assign team members to the client. Click the “Assign team members to this client” button.

Choose which team members you would like to assign to the client.

You can assign a different role to each team member with respect to the client by clicking the drop-down menu next to the team member. You can also set an approval requirement for your team member for payments above a certain amount.

Now click on the “Assign and close” button, and you’re all set - your team members have been added to the client’s account.
